Long Day for Bug

Posted by ladybug on February 25th, 2010

some days just don’t work out as well for the dog.  like today for example.

i was off from work yesterday to take care of a few things so the dog got to hang out with me most of the day.  we went for a walk and played in the backyard a bit, things were cool.  today everyone had to go to work, didn’t get  home til after 5:30, and it was raining.

now, i know i should probably walk the dog in the rain, but i don’t.  yes, the dog has a raincoat, but it still doesn’t happen.

she has been pretty good this evening though.  we played tug of war and “throw the rope down the hall” for a while, but otherwise she has been laid out. . . . which means i can expect her to get up in the middle of the night to go out.  and we can expect her to wake up early as crap.  it is a  holiday barn day tomorrow and should be another peaceful evening tomorrow night.

we’re all ready for spring around here.

stupid snow day

Posted by ladybug on January 31st, 2010

we got hit bad again.  why does this keep happening on the weekends?  i’d much prefer to at least get out of going to work if i have to deal with the snow.  we got about a foot, and it was coming down ALL day long.  not much fun to be outside for anyone.

so here’s how the day progressed for Ladybug:

stupid snow day

goodnight snowday, we’ve had enough

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/kwsport12/goodnightsnowday.jpg

today was much better, no snow and clear blue sunny skies.  Bug and i had a good time out playing in the snow.  it was still a little deeper than she wished it was, but we ran around and had a snowball fight.

i won.

didn’t get any pics, sorry.  she looked like a big ass bunny bouncin’ around the yard though.

she’s back to napping on the futon now. . . . we’ll see how long that lasts.

It’s been almost a year? For real??

Posted by ladybug on January 29th, 2010

dang, i can’t believe it’s been so long since i’ve updated this blog.  i’m sure nobody is checking for it anymore, and don’t really think anyone was in the first place, save my brother.

but here i am, things have been super busy over the past 10 months.  wasn’t able to put much time into this blog (obviously) with other things such as school, internships and work goin on.  but now school is over, no more internship obligations and i have a new job which will hopefully allow for some time during the work day to update this thing every now and then.

Ladybug is doing great.  she is completely spoiled rotten and continues to run things around our house.  not really, but. . . well yeah she does.  took her to the vet for an annual checkup last week and she weighs 59 pounds and is perfectly healthy.  yesterday she went to camp so she slept well last night and was surprised this morning when her friend, and my little sister in law, jasmine came over to spend the day with her today.  she’ll enjoy being out of the crate and in and out of the house playing with jam all day i’m sure.

last time i updated this blog was after Bug’s first snow.  we had another BIG snow in december and they are calling for another one starting tonight and going through tomorrow.  it was so deep the last two times it snowed that the poor dog doesn’t like to have to bury her little butt in the snow to pee and what not.  i end up clearing out a section in the yard so her delicates don’t freeze while she handles business.  she’s not a huge fan of the snow when it’s that deep, it comes up to her belly and not whole lot of fun to play in.  maybe this time it won’t be so deep and she can run around and enjoy it more.

i’ll update later with some pics.  photobucket is blocked at the job for some reason.

snow day 2009

Posted by ladybug on March 26th, 2009

so the weather here in VA has been kinda nuts lately.  we got a ton of snow a few weeks back, sandwiched between some really nice days in the 70s and 80s.  it has been a little more consistent since the beginning of the month, but we’re ready for spring around here.

so yeah, we got a lot of snow, and it was bug’s first snow!  she HAD A BLAST!!  so let me give you an idea of what a lot of snow is to us here in richmond, va.

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/kwsport12/P3020422.jpg

nine inches!  yes, that is a lot for around here.  considering we haven’t really had a good snow in 2 or 3 years, this was major.  and we were excited.  especially ladybug.

she wasn’t really sure what to think of it.  the night it started snowing and sticking to the ground it was the most wonderful thing she had ever experienced.  she ran and frolicked (yes, i said frolicked) about the backyard and had a great time enjoying this “cold stuff” that was falling and sticking to the ground.  she had never seen anything quite like it before.

but then it didn’t stop snowing, and it didn’t stop snowing, and it didn’t stop snowing until we had about nine inches on the ground.  it came up to the dog’s barrel-like chest, she was plowing through the snow as she played.  she had so much fun, it was like a little kid.  she was just tearin’ ass around the backyard, stickin’ her face down in it, chasing snowballs. . . it was great.  here’s some pics:

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/kwsport12/P3020429.jpg

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q116/kwsport12/P3020437.jpg

and this one is great, she’s ready to come in i think:

and do you notice the raincoat? (i’m sure you do)  i have come around on the raincoat.  it actually is a great thing to put on her when there is precipitation falling from the sky.  it keeps her back dry and therefore she doesn’t stink as bad.  so yes, as silly as i initially thought the raincoat to be, it has proven quite  useful.  and it looks very cute.  haha
